What Do You Need for Your Autumn Arrangement?

For this Autumn Happiness wreath, you’ll use a selection of natural materials that you can easily find at your florist or local garden centre:

      • Ready-made wreath (conifer greenery, moss, or cypress)
      • A low bowl (preferably gold or earth-tone)
      • An amaryllis bulb or decorative ball as a centerpiece
      • Small pumpkins
      • Berry branches (such as rosehips or ornamental berries)
      • Physalis (small lanterns)
      • Pine cones or chestnuts
      • Possibly gold leaves or other decorations
      • Glue gun + glue sticks

Herfststuk maken de basis

How to create your autumn arrangement step by step

  1. Setting the base
Place the finished wreath on the dish. This will form the sturdy, green base of your arrangement.
  2. Adding the centerpiece
Place the amaryllis bulb in the center of the wreath. Glue it lightly if necessary to ensure it stays upright.
  3. Decorate with pumpkins and physalis
Attach the pumpkins evenly across the wreath using the glue gun. Fill the open spaces with physalis lanterns and berries.
  4. Add variety
Use materials in different heights and colors. This will give your autumn arrangement depth and a playful, natural effect.
  5. The finishing touch
Glue pine cones, golden leaves, or small decorative pumpkins among the greenery. Turn the bowl regularly to check that it is nicely balanced everywhere.

Nature provides everything you need to create something special

Creating an autumn arrangement, the first setup and distribution of materials

Our tips for the best result.

  • Don’t glue too much in one place — an airy distribution looks more natural.
  • Start with the larger items; it’s easier to arrange them properly on an empty wreath. Distribute.
  • Distribute the colored materials evenly over the wreath.

Autumn happiness in your home

Asters: A Beautiful Autumn Flower with International Roots

If you want to instantly lift your mood, treat yourself to a big bunch of gorgeous asters. Combine them with a few loose seasonal flowers for a trendy, airy bouquet. The bright heart of this cheerful bloomer is surrounded by delicate petals — and the best part? They stay beautiful for a long time. Originally from North America, this plant also makes a lovely addition to your garden border.

Colours and Shapes of the Aster

Purple-blue and white asters are the most common, but you’ll also find them in soft pink, red, lilac, violet, and deep purple shades. Their yellow center makes the surrounding petals stand out even more — the contrast enhances their beauty. Each sturdy stem carries a large flower head surrounded by long, narrow petals that give the aster its signature look.

Symbolism of the Aster

Want to wish someone a long and happy life — or give your grandmother a joyful boost? Then a big bouquet of asters is the perfect choice! They bring not only autumn cheer but also symbolize a happy old age. According to ancient myths, burning the petals of asters would chase away snakes and evil spirits — although we think they look much better in a vase!

Origin of the Aster

The aster originally comes from Europe, Asia, and North America. There used to be an impressive 600 species, but by the end of the last century, this number was refined to about 250, divided among several genera. They are perennial, herbaceous plants belonging to the composite (Asteraceae) family.

Autumn Calls for Flowers

This season — autumn — calls for flowers.

When the colours shift from fresh green to golden yellow and scarlet red. When the wind rustles through the trees and a cool breeze flows through the house and through our minds. Isn’t that the ultimate autumn feeling ?

It’s the time when we bring the warmth of the past season indoors. When the scent of rain-soaked paths awakens nostalgic memories and brings a smile to our face, even if it’s raining outside. Golden rays of sunlight sneak in and give our days a soft, glowing edge. Let’s be honest — autumn isn’t just a season, it’s a feeling.

Celebrate Seasons – Autumn Calls for Flowers

Retreat with autumn and embrace the season. Feel it, smell it, taste it — and let’s start with flowers!

Autumn flowers shine in warm, rich colours that brighten the colder days of the year and remind us that beauty isn’t bound by season.

Typical Autumn Flowers

Flowers are what autumn is all about. Think of chrysanthemums, asters, and rose hips. Or take a closer look at Veronica, Hypericum, Crocosmia, and Scabiosa — if that’s not autumn beauty, what is?

Warmth, Colour and Joy in Your Home with Chrysanthemums

A fan of chrysanthemums?
In China and Japan, people have admired this flower for centuries and rightly so! This “golden flower” brings warmth and colour, shines in every bouquet, and is known for its long-lasting beauty. Let’s get to know the chrysanthemum.

Colours and Shapes of the Chrysanthemum

It’s easy to forget that the chrysanthemum was originally yellow. Nowadays, it’s available in a stunning array of colours.  Add vibrancy to your home with chrysanthemums in warm golden, bronze-red or deep orange shades. Or go for a softer look with white, pink or purple hues.

This beautiful bloom comes in many varieties, allowing your inner stylist to play: spray chrysanthemums, disbudded types, and the compact santini chrysanthemums, where the small flowers branch out from one stem giving them a unique look! And that’s not all the flower shapes are endless, from single to double blooms and from spider-like petals to pompon forms.

The Symbolism of the Chrysanthemum

With the elegant chrysanthemum, you bring both colour and happiness into your home. This flower symbolizes joy and good health. Looking for an extra festive surprise? Consider sending birthday balloons together with a beautiful bouquet!

The Origin of the Chrysanthemum

In Asia, chrysanthemums have been cherished for centuries.  They originate from China and Japan, where they quickly captured hearts. Around 1700, the chrysanthemum made its way to Europe. Its name comes from Greek: chrysos (gold) and anthemon (flower) originally referring to the golden-yellow colour of its first varieties.
